Black Sabbath's legendary bassist Geezer Butler is on the cover, and there is an excellent two page interview with Dave as he talks about his musical journey. Now available!
Hi there. I just wanted to say "thanks" to all of you that took the time to participate in Bass Player magazine's Ultimate Bass Poll. It was a surprise and an honor to be among the 200 bassists from around the world nominated in 10 categories with 20 players in each. To be in the same poll with so many of my heroes like Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, James Jamerson, Chuck Rainey, Stanely Clarke, and Charles Mingus and friends like VIctor Wooten, Tony Levin, Bill Sheehan, John Pattitucci and many more is very humbling.
We are very excited to share the news that Dave has been nominated in Bass Player Magazine's All Time Greatest Bassist poll! "I am very humbled and honored to be nominated in the Roots category of this prestigious poll, and to be in the company of many of my heroes and peers. Thanks to everyone who had anything to do with this," says Dave.
All music fans are encouraged to vote. Note: you don't have to vote in every category, and you can vote for more than one in your favorite categories.
A Note from Dave: I have mostly been in "Union mode" for the past 14 months, helping musicians in Tennessee and around the country survive the pandemic. First we running a social media campaign to convince TN Gov Bill Lee to follow the Federal unemployment guidelines for freelance workers, which succeeded in changing his position for the better within less 24 hours. AFM 257 helped MusiCares work through an unprecedented number of applications for financial assistance.
Hello everyone! here's wishing you all a fabulous 2021~ Looking forward to making some great music this year. Peace, Love, and Grooves to EVERYONE!
