You are invited to a special “Dave Pomeroy & Friends” show at the Exit/In at 8 p.m. this coming Wednesday, October 5, the 45th anniversary of the day I moved to Music City in 1977. In addition to my 45th “Nashiversary,” we will also be celebrating the iconic legacy of the Exit/In, one of Nashville’s most historic venues.
This is going to be a great night celebrating Dave's 45th Nashiversary and the incredible legacy of the Exit/In!
The 23rd Annual Nashville Unlimited Christmas concert for Room in the Inn will be Dec. 13 at 7 pm. These concerts have raised nearly $500,000 for this wonderful homeless organization. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer!
Jim Rooney is an acclaimed songwriter/producer who has worked with everyone from John Prine and Nancy Griffith, Iris DeMent, and many more iconic folk and country artists. The Irregulars are a loose collection of all-star musicians and singers, including Sam Bush, Shawn Camp, Jelly Roll Johnson, Pat Alger, Richard Bailey, Dan Dugmore, and Dave Pomeroy. These shows are always a blast, and you never know who might show up and sit in!
This will be an exciting show celebrating both the Exit/In and Dave's 45th Anniversary (aka Nashiversary) with a great lineup including Johnny Neel, Regina McCrary, Jon Randall Stewart, Pat Bergeson & Annie Selleck, AfroKokoRoot, and more. $20 cover = UMF (Unlimited Musical Fun) Come on down!
We really appreciate all the love and support for our fundraising concert on August 9. We raised more than $5000 for the AFM 257 Funeral Benefit Fund, which paid out more than $130K in 2021 to the beneficiaries of members who passed. Thanks to all the performers and all who gave so generously. This will go a long way towards keeping the Funeral Benefit Fund component of our Annual Dues from going way up for 2023. Much Appreciated!
Hello there Nashville music fans!
Dave Pomeroy here, and I am happy to announce my first “Dave and Friends” show in a long time. Tuesday, August 9th, at 7 p.m., at Nashville’s 3rd and Lindsley, I will host “For Those We Lost,” a fundraising concert featuring many of Nashville’s finest performers. The diverse lineup includes AFM 257 members Jeff Coffin, Larry Cordle, John Cowan, Don Schlitz, The SloBeats, Three Ring Circle, Guthrie Trapp Trio and The McCrary Sisters. The concert will raise funds to help replenish the Nashville Musicians Association Funeral Benefit Fund, which has paid out more than $300,000 to the beneficiaries of AFM 257 members since the pandemic. There will also be a number of items up for auction, including tour jackets, free piano tuning and more.
Among the 78 Local 257 members we lost during the pandemic are John Prine, Joe Diffie, Beegie Adair, Hargus “Pig” Robbins, Charlie Daniels, Bob Moore, Jan Howard, Dallas Frazier, JT Gray, Bill Pursell, Roland White, and Kenny Malone. The AFM 257 Funeral Benefit fund is especially important for beneficiaries of lesser-known musicians with a limited retirement income. It was primarily for those members that the fund was first established in 1917. Once a common component of AFM Locals across the country, Local 257 is now one of only a handful of AFM Locals still offering this survivor benefit, which is paid for by the members as part of their annual dues.
Tickets are $20, and all money raised will go directly to reducing the Funeral Benefit Fund amount in next year’s dues. Donations, (which are not tax-deductible, unfortunately) can also be mailed to the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM 257 at 11 Music Circle N., Nashville, TN 37203. Thanks in advance for spreading the word and taking part in this collective effort to help musicians help one another. Hope to see you there on Tuesday night!
